Meet Our Team

Bobbie H. Keigan

At the ripe old age of eleven, I was already dreaming of becoming a lawyer. I pictured myself starting my own firm, fighting for my clients in court, and winning cases.

I followed my dreams and completed both my undergraduate degree as well as my law degree at the University of Victoria. I quickly developed a passion for criminal law and justice and decided that I wanted to focus my career on criminal litigation. In my second year of law school, I completed a work term with the prosecution in Yellowknife and found that working in the north was a great way to gain skills and an excellent foundation in the practice of law.

After graduation I travelled north again, this time to the Peace Region where I was born and raised. I spent three years practicing criminal defense law, representing clients in both Provincial and Supreme Court. I had the good fortune, as a young lawyer, to spend most of my days in court honing my skills and advocating on behalf of my clients in a wide variety of hearings and trials. When not in court, I was either meeting with clients to discuss strategy to ensure they had a thorough understanding of their case or negotiating with Crown counsel to find the best resolutions for my clients.

I moved back to Victoria in 2018 and took on an exciting new challenge moving from criminal work to focus on civil litigation. I was privileged to learn from skilled lawyers and enjoyed applying the litigation experience I had developed in criminal defense to personal injury files in Supreme Court.

By 2020 I had the experience and the drive to take the next step. I was ready to invest myself and my future in Victoria. I wanted to build something from the ground up that could provide unique and full-service representation for my community here on the Island, so I founded Corvus Law. Now, I work with an excellent team of lawyers and staff and our firm continues to grow. We are young, we are hungry, and we are driven to provide the best service available to our clients. I could not be prouder of what we have accomplished so far. I am excited to continue to develop relationships and assist clients with their legal needs.

In my off time, I enjoy cycling, travelling (in the before times), and a good puzzle.

Crystal Cook

I was born and raised in the Lower Mainland, BC and attended the University of Victoria to obtain my law degree.  After articling at a boutique securities law firm, I went on to work at a larger firm in Victoria and began acting for clients in wills, estate, corporate and real estate matters. I relocated to Dawson Creek in November, 2023 with my partner to join Corvus Law as a solicitor.

In assisting my clients with their planning or transactional matters, I strive to ensure that proper time is taken to set out their options and ensure that each client understands the legal issues and steps applicable to them. I believe that this approach leads to better outcomes for clients as it empowers them to make better informed decisions and, in many cases, recognize potential issues so that they can be avoided or mitigated before becoming disputes.

Outside of work, I enjoy cycle touring, genealogy and travel. In recent years, I have been fortunate to combine these interests with extended tours in Scotland, England and Europe.

From a very young age, I have always had a passion for law and justice. This passion led me to obtain a Diploma in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies. During my undergrad, I volunteered with a youth transitional house and completed a practicum at Saanich Police Department. After growing up in North Saanich and completing my undergraduate degree in Victoria, I decided it was time to spread my wings and use my British dual citizenship to travel abroad.

I traveled to England where I completed my law degree. Following law school, I moved to Toronto where I completed my Masters in Law (LL.M.) at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. After completing my Masters in Toronto, I decided that one year with a cold winter was enough for me and it was time to come home to the Island.

Prior to articling at Corvus Law, I was a court clerk at the Victoria Courthouse and a legal assistant with the Criminal Appeals and Special Prosecution sector of the BC Prosecution Service. While I was completing my LL.M. in Toronto, I worked as a Student-at-Law for a small boutique firm working primarily on real estate, wills and corporate matters.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking all of the beautiful trails on the Island, snowboarding, swimming in lakes and spending time with friends and family.

I didn’t think I would be a lawyer when I was young. Initially I dreamed of being a doctor, or an engineer, or maybe a scientist, following in the footsteps of my grandparents who pursued science based careers. A few twists and turns in the road later and I found myself falling in love with the law.

I completed my undergraduate degree at Mcgill University and my law degree at the University of Windsor. I then articled at the storied civil rights organization the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. Seeking to broaden my horizons, I applied for the CBA’s Young Lawyer’s International Program and was stationed in Makhanda, South Africa for 6 months, where I gained valuable skills working in a foreign jurisdiction. For a time I considered a career continuing to work abroad, doing international law at an NGO.

Nothing could have prepared me, however, for the impact the COVID-19 pandemic would have on my life. Forced to return from abroad to my home in Toronto, I had to reset and refocus my career amongst the chaos. Nevertheless I adapted. I earned my LLM at the University of Ottawa while on a fellowship to research health law. I also freelanced for local lawyers and took a contract with a legal clinic defending impoverished clients at the Landlord and Tenant Board.

I’m now ready for my next adventure in Victoria BC. I was surprised and thrilled when Corvus Law presented me with the opportunity to head up their Health Law practice. I look forward to representing professionals of all stripes in my new home, and I am excited to build new relationships with clients across Vancouver Island and northern BC.

In my spare time I enjoy video games, tabletop games, cycling, weightlifting, and cooking.

I relocated from Calgary, Alberta, to Victoria, British Columbia, in 2013 to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy at the University of Victoria. During my time at the university, I discovered a deep connection to Vancouver Island and its community.

After my undergraduate studies, I continued to pursue my lifelong goal of becoming a lawyer. I was honoured to receive a scholarship to the University of Dundee School of Law in Scotland, an institution with a family legacy that spans three generations. After graduating LL.B., I was happy to return to the island and the place I now call home.

I thrive on meeting new people and on building connections. I’m driven to help others and to contribute to my community. I've also gained valuable experience as a legal assistant at downtown Victoria law firms while having my legal credentials accepted and approved in Canada.

I'm excited to take the next step in my legal career by articling with Corvus Law.

Prior to completing a sociology degree from the University of Calgary, I had lived entirely on the prairies. However, I was drawn to British Columbia by my summers worked there as a tree planter which took me to all corners of the province, from the coast to the interior and the north. This in turn led me to relocate to Victoria where I obtained my law degree.  Articling with Corvus Law has now brought me back across the mountains to Dawson Creek, where the snow and the sun are both welcome and familiar.

At Corvus I am primarily working on corporate, estate planning, estate administration and real estate matters. I am drawn to these areas because of the opportunity to assist people in navigating the legal intricacies surrounding important events in their lives. Whether it is facilitating clients’ important milestones, like purchasing a home or starting a new business, to planning on how to manage those assets later on, it is fulfilling to bring peace of mind and clarity in a space that can often be stressful or confusing.

Despite having spent many springs and summers living out of a tent, I still enjoy being outdoors, camping and hiking. In recent years, I have found the joys of long-distance bicycle touring, and have pedalled around New Zealand, Scotland, Vietnam, Western Europe and across BC. I’m an avid runner and enjoy games of all sorts, particularly those involving words.
